Loy Krathong

Today is Loy Krathong, one of the most colourful festivals of the year in Thailand. This is when people go to their local waterway to float small bowl shaped containers called Krathongs in Thai. Inside are three incense sticks, a candle and usually a few coins. They float the Krathong to ask Mother Nature for forgiveness for polluting the rivers but also to thank her for water that brings life. Most people also take this opportunity to make a wish for good luck in the future. As they watch the krathong float away, they hope it will also take any of their bad luck.

Loy Krathong is one of many annual Thailand festivals and is one of the most important ones and also one of the most beautiful. In this video I will show you how to make your own krathong, so you can be part of this beautiful Thai festival.
